The West Australian Planning Commission (WAPC), in partnership with Regional Development Commissions, Regional Development Australia and local governments has prepared Regional Planning and Infrastructure Frameworks for the State’s eight country planning regions. The purpose of each framework is to establish a regional vision and basis for decision-making. The frameworks also introduce a number of planning initiatives, which form the basis of an ongoing work program for the Department of Planning.

Being the State’s largest region geographically, the Goldfields-Esperance region contains a diversity of social, economic and natural environments. Its diverse economy, including its important mining, agricultural and tourism sectors, is expected to continue to drive its growth into the future.
