Tenders called for $31.3m Esperance Health Campus redevelopment

The $31.3 million redevelopment of the Esperance Health Campus has reached a major milestone with builders being invited to tender for the project. Health Minister Kim Hames said early construction works were expected to start mid-year and would involve extensive site works and upgrades to the access roads as well as to essential services.

Once the preliminary works are completed, the major construction commence on a new front entrance and Emergency Department.

Once completed the ED will have about three times the capacity of the existing department, with two state of the arts resuscitation bays, a procedure room as well as private consulting rooms and acute treatment bays.

The redevelopment will include a new operating theatre, an upgrade of the existing theatre, an eight-bed day surgery unit, two modern birthing suites and four single rooms including private ensuites for maternity patients.

Funding for the project includes $18.8 million from Royalties for Regions.
