The fifth Over the Horizon Forum held in Esperance on Friday 2 May was hailed a success by organisers and attendees alike. Over 120 people seized the opportunity to listen to high calibre presenters speaking about their respective activities and the future of the region.

Article from Kalgoorlie MinerGEDC CEO, Robert Hicks,  said the turn out was pleasing and the forum, a partnership between the GEDC and the Esperance Chamber of Commerce and Industry, continues to be a "valuable exercise to find out what is happening in the region".

Mr Hicks said the calibre of speakers was particularly impressive, with 15 presenters speaking on various issues of interest to the region.  Federal Resources and Energy Minister, Gary Gray,  praised the region for its tenacity, focus and commitment to get large projects off the ground. He cited the Port Access Corridor as an example of major infrastructure projects that required sustained efforts in planning, investment and were now a reality, while WA Regional Development Trust Chairman Andrew Murray called for an  increase in agriculture production to benefit from the extraordinary growth in the middle class population of the Asia Pacific Region.
