New CEO for Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission

The Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission is  under new leadership. Recently appointed Acting CEO, Norman Baker, has moved to Kalgoorlie-Boulder and taken over the reins of the GEDC.

Mr Baker is well qualified for the position. He is a Senior Executive within the WA Public Sector and has experience in working in regional areas, including undertaking the chief executive officer role of Managing Director, Pilbara Institute of Technology.

With over 20 years of management and leadership experience, Mr Baker brings to the role a breadth of experience, having worked in both the public  and private sector, including four years abroad in the United Arab Emirates.

He has been actively involved in the local business community with past membership of several Boards including the North-West Small Business Incubator, the Joondalup Business Association and the Education sub-committee of the Australia China Business Council (ACBC) WA. He has also led a number of state-wide  initiatives to address economic growth and the needs of small and medium enterprises.

Mr Baker holds a number of qualifications; two Masters degrees and is currently completing a Doctorate in Business at UWA.
