Hopetoun First to receive Revitalisation Funds

Hopetoun  will be the first town to benefit from the State Government Royalties for Region $186 million Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation Plan following State Cabinet meeting in Esperance today.

Premier Colin Barnett, in Esperance  for the regional Cabinet meeting, announced that a new Hopetoun Community Centre, scheduled to be opened by 2016, would be made possible with more than $2 million from the Royalties for Region program.

Minister for Regional Development Terry Redman added that the centre would provide for a wide range of community activities and also  house the Community Resource Centre which provides a town library, visitors centre and links to Centrelink, Medicare and employment services. 

The new Hopetoun Community Centre will also be funded through a grant from Lotterywest, the Hopetoun Future Fund and the Shire of Ravensthorpe.
