Regional grants to benefit local projects in the Goldfields-Esperance Region

$24 million allocated to Goldfields-Esperance projects

A further $23.96 million in funding from the Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation Fund, a State Government Royalties for Regions program, has been announced in the region this week.

Following the announcement last week of the Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium redevelopment, the Minister for Regional Development, the Hon Terry Redman, announced this week $1.6 million in funding towards a new cultural, visitor and community precinct for Norseman and $3.16 million towards Stage 2 of the Coolgardie Post Office and Associated Buildings Reinstatement Project.

$4.06 million for new indoor sporting stadium in Esperance

The long awaited Esperance Indoor Sports Stadium will receive $4.06 million in Royalties for Regions from the Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation (GER) Fund.

Today the Minister for Regional Development, the Hon Terry Redman, visited Esperance to announce funding towards a new, fit-for-purpose and future-proof indoor sports and recreation precinct for the residents of the greater Esperance region.

New Round of Funding for Goldfields-Esperance Region

Projects that assist in attracting investment and improving the quality of life in regional Western Australia will stand a chance to be funded by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions Regional Grants Scheme (RGS) and Community Chest Fund (CCF). Applications will open on Monday 1 August 2016 for the latest round of funding through RGS and CCF. RGS is aimed at projects to help attract investment, increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life in the regions, with grants from $50,001 to $300,000, with CCF supporting smaller local projects with one-off grants of up to $50,000.

Over Half a Million Dollars in region from Community Chest

A total of $553,000 will flow into the Goldfields-Esperance Region as part of the Goldfields-Esperance Community Chest Fund. $9.7 million boost to Goldfields announced today

The Goldfields-Esperance region is set to benefit from two new projects receiving a $9.7 million investment made possible by the State Government Royalties for Regions program. Under the Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation Fund, $6 million has been approved for the construction of a multi-purpose sport and recreation pavilion at the Ray Finlayson Sporting Complex, and $3.7 million will allow for a two stage redevelopment of the Golden Mile Loopline Railway.

A total of $370,000 will be invested in the Goldfields‐Esperance region as part of the Goldfields‐Esperance Community Chest Fund. Made possible by the State Government’s Royalties for Regions program, this newly established small grants program is aimed at providing funds to smaller community projects such as community events, arts and culture, youth and mental health programs and facility upgrades. 

GEDC Chairperson, Tony Crook, today announced the successful applicants from both the first and second rounds of the 2015 Community Chest Fund which closed on 11 December 2014 and 30 January 2015 respectively.

A draft Arts and Culture Trail Plan for the Goldfields-Esperance Region has been released for comment. Commissioned by the GEDC, and prepared by Tracker Development, the plan outlines recommendations based on research and consultation feedback for the development of an Arts and Cultural Trail for the region, stretching from the WA/NT border  through the Ngaanyatjarra Lands and Northern Goldfields, to Kalgoorlie and Esperance and finishing at Hopetoun.

A new round of funding under the Goldfields-Esperance Regional Grants Scheme opened today. Minister for Regional Development Terry Redman announced that  $1.1M of Royalties for Regions funding had been allocated to each Regional Development Commmission for initiatives aiming to improve economic and community infrastructure and services. In addition a new Community Chest Fund will assist the community with smaller projects with a $370,000 allocation.

Public comment sought on review of Esperance and Northern Goldfields air routes

The State Government is currently conducting a review of Regulated Regular Public Transport Air Routes in Western Australia and is seeking public comment on the proposals which affect both Esperance and the Northern Goldfields.

The review proposes new approach for regulation of eight intrastate routes to ensure sustainable services for regional communities.

Assistant Commissioner with  the Department of Corrective Services,  Steve Robins, arrived in Kalgoorlie-Boulder this week. He is no stranger to the region, having lived and worked in Kalgoorlie over the years. He is looking forward to the challenge and we welcome him to the region.

Esperance Port Upgrade going ahead

Yilgarn Esperance Solutions (YES) Limited has been chosen to design, build and operate the new Esperance Port Multi-User Iron Ore Export Facility proposed for Esperance Port. The announcement was made by Minister for Transport, DeanNalder who said that  YES, a consortium led by Asciano, was one of two shortlisted bidders that were requested to submit a proposal to develop the facility.

Tenders called for $31.3m Esperance Health Campus redevelopment

Health Minister Kim Hames said early construction works were expected to start mid-year and would involve extensive site works and upgrades to the access roads as well as to essential services.
